ABC Management

Primary survery

Airway

Protect cervical spine. 

Assessment : Signs of obstruction. 

Management : establish a patent airway.

Breathing

Assessment : Respiratory rate, check bilateral chest movement, percuss and auscultate. 

Management : if no respiratory effort treat as arrest, intubate and ventilate. If breathing compromised give ↑concentration oxygen , manage according to findings (eg tension pneumothorax)

Circulation

Assessment : check pulse and BP, capillary refill, signs of haemorrhage.

Management : if no cardiac output treat as arrest, if shocked treat accordingly.

Disability

AVPU: Alert, Visual stimulus (responds to), Pain stimulus, Unresponsive

Exposure

Undress, but cover to avoid hypothermia.
